From the “No It Isn’t April First” department:
Brand Republic reports that Leo Burnett has opened a new office inside the virtual community Second Life. Other recent Second Life launches: Toyota, Adidas. IBM’s Wladawsky-Berger suggests virtual worlds will transform business. Wired writes about folks making their living on SecondLife.
If you’ve not checked out Second Life (wikipedia entry) give it a visit.
Some stats to give a sense of scale:
- total user base: 850k
- users who’ve logged in last 60 days: 360k
- Second Life GDP: US $64m.
Big numbers.
