Rant: Bad Captchas

Oh how I hate bad captchas. Here’s one from Earthlink’s webmail that tripped me up today:

Yeah, captchas help sites defeat ‘bots to some degree. But come on, let’s not utterly destroy usability.

This one is classic:

      I have been using text-based, question and answer “captcha” for several years now, and it works great.
