Google GWT Search Queries Script
Google announced a Python script that allows webmasters to download search queries data from Google Webmaster Tools (GWT) in .csv format. This data can then be pulled daily or monthly in order to build archived data. Google offers a pretty slick tutorial on how to setup, run the script, and upload search queries right into a Google doc.
This functionality is currently not available through the GWT API, however Google is considering adding it in the near future.
Hmmm, looks like a good opportunity for (not provided) search query…
Rich Snippet Spam
When Google announced the development and support of Schema.org, it didn’t take long for sites to start taking advantage of loopholes. This has been recently called out and the process explained.
While we believe it’s only a matter of time before Google puts proper checks and balances into place (in order to prevent attempts to gain more click through via fake 5 stars and reviews) this does represent a thorn-in-the-side of the “new initiative from Google, Bing, and Yahoo to create and support a common vocabulary for structured data markup on web pages.”
SEOmoz Launches Historical Link Data
SEOmoz pro users will be excited to know that SEOmoz launched historical link data.
Users can now view link analysis of root domains and subdomains for their sites and competitors over time.
Only caveat being, a user must setup a “campaign” in order for SEOmoz to begin tracking these metrics. Here’s to hoping for consistent, credible backlink data!
Google Bug Alert!
A recent issue was brought to our attention regarding an incorrect Google preview image of a PPC ad.
The issue: A paid ad is previewing the mobile site, not the correct desktop version landing page.
The issue was looked into with no avail and currently Google engineers are looking into it.
We find this really interesting with all the current mobile news from Google. Has anyone else seen issues with their paid ad previews not displaying the correct landing page?
