Custom Excel Graph Types
As a long-time heavy Excel user, I shared Paul Kedrosky’s frustration with formatting Excel graphs.
Wes of Money Cuts Both Ways provided a simple answer:
- Design a chart that you like.
- Right click on it, select “Chart Type.”
- Select “Cutom Types” tab.
- Select “User Defined” radio button.
- Click “Add” button and name your new style.
- You can also set any chart type (built in or custom) to the “default” style.
Great timesaving tip!

Ha! I’m glad that you found that tip helpful. I joke with my friends that my entire career is based on excel. One day I’ll tell my grandkids about what I did and they’ll just look at me funny. ; )
